THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
(17-03-09)
The “Rainbow Bridge” is suggestive of color and beauty because of the spectrum of colors that we see on a rainbow. It denotes a feeling calm, of bliss, of freedom, joy and happiness from all the pain and suffering in the world caused by man towards animals. It is where all creatures big and small go after enduring long moments of neglect, disease, hunger, pain and abuse. To me, it’s simply “animal heaven.”
I came across of the term on “You tube” one afternoon browsing for worthwhile and entertaining videos to watch from weird things people do on cam to get instant stardom and fame to awareness on the environment like “earth hour,” to lovable and cute pets and animals and animal abuse. Yes, animal abuse, the unthinkable and heartless acts of irresponsible pet owners do to their pets. I must admit, I love animals and pets, specially dogs and I am totally against animal abuse and maltreatment.
I was totally unprepared for what I have seen; I was immediately heart broken from what I saw on the videos. Cats and dogs dumped anywhere just because their owner cannot afford to take care of them anymore and ending up in city pounds and death row for the unlucky ones not fit for animal adoption. In Australia, 60,000 dogs are “put to sleep” every year because there are not enough homes for them. Emancipated dogs all tied up with heavy chains hungry and cold. An injured dog all beaten up more so with bites marks on its face and some even with skin peeled off all for a perverted entertainment. A blinded cat and many more acts of cruelty to animals. These are the animals and pets which at some point took them as part of our family and simply decided to shut the doors out for them in the end. And I guess the love has finally ran out for these once loved and pampered members of the family and are doomed to suffer and die.
Owning a pet entails big responsibility and more so “TLC” (tender loving care) every responsible pet owner is aware of this. Other than that one has to consider the expense that comes with that responsibility of having a pet. And so it is practical to think twice or more before deciding to have one.
For those reading this post I encourage you to be more responsible and loving to your cats and dogs at home. Love them and they will love you back even more. Please help stop the abuse and cruelty on animals. We can all make a difference.
This post is dedicated to “Missy” my beautiful and loyal dog who past away October 2008 who I miss dearly and to all the abused animals around the world.
And by the way the dog pictures that you see on my profile are “S.T., Coco, and Powder.”
